Day One Group President and Founder, Stephen Giordano
Stephen Giordano is President and Founder of Day One Group, a consulting firm that specializes in organizational transformation through executive coaching, skills-based leadership training and change management.
Stephen has over 15 years of experience both as an executive coach and as a strategic consultant, and has worked with a wide variety of Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 firms. Current clients include Morgan Stanley, Weight Watchers, Met Life, Rutgers University, UBS, Deutsche Bank and New York Road Runners.
As a coach and consultant, Stephen consistently challenges his clients to balance their long-term vision with short-term execution. A key focus of his coaching methodology is on the dynamics of interpersonal skills as it impacts team management, client relationships and leadership development.
Stephen is unique in his ability to constructively encourage his clients to self-reflect honestly, take personal risks to act with integrity and make committed decisions that create desired change for themselves and their organizations. In addition to coaching, Stephen advises leadership teams on strategy, organizational development and talent management. He works with leaders at all levels and supports the pursuit of excellence across revenue and non-revenue functions alike. Stephen began his consulting career in 1998 and worked as a Managing Director for an international organizational training company from 2004–2011 before starting his own business. Prior to entering consulting, Stephen spent ten years in higher education administration during which time he managed, trained and mentored staff and faculty members. Stephen holds a B.A. in English from Georgetown University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Manhattanville College. Stephen is a member of the iCoach — New York program and has professional certification in Social Styles, Self Management Profiles, DiSC and the Harrison Assessment.
Francesca Ferrara — Director, Client Experience
Francesca Ferrara has been with Day One Group since its founding. As an operations orchestrator, she oversees client relations and project management, while working closely with our team of designers and facilitators to ensure the quality and success of Day One Group programs. Her commitment to professional development and learning facilitation has been a cornerstone of her career.
As a former teacher with a Master of Education degree from Columbia University, Francesca understands both the theoretical tenets and practical applications of designing and implementing meaningful and memorable curriculum. Her passion for creating learning tools with real-life applicability is evident in her contributions to Day One Group’s customized program designs for clients such as UBS, Neuberger Berman and New York Road Runners. Her experience as a professional writer in both the academic and entertainment industries provides a synthesized blend of subject-knowledge and accessibility to our content.
With over 15 years of corporate experience in both the for- and non-profit sectors of the sports and entertainment industries, Francesca has developed a deep understanding of and respect for the importance of skills-based training in the workplace. As a manager in the international licensing and marketing division of the National Hockey League, she worked with 80+ licensees around the globe and developed a balanced and versatile style when working with clients. Francesca’s firm grasp of the skills needed to help team members meet their full potential continues to enable real organizational success with local and remote teams of varying expertise.
Francesca manages Day One Group’s executive coaching practice. She is an executive coach trained and certified through the Baruch University iCoach NY program. She is also certified by The Tracom Group to administer, debrief and train individuals and groups in the Social Styles assessment model.
Francesca resides in New Jersey with her two sons. She is actively involved in her local school district, improving the quality of education and enrichment offerings for students. In her free time, she enjoys running and playing tennis.
Kelly Shannon, Director of Client Solutions
As the Director of Client Solutions for Day One Group, Kelly Shannon applies her expertise in learning & development, executive coaching, and talent management to clients’ development and engagement needs. She consults with Fortune 100 and 500 companies on their leadership and employee development strategies and curriculum. Kelly brings a holistic approach to helping great leaders build great companies. From working with leaders to assess the development needs of the organization to designing the strategy, framework, processes and focus of leadership, management and open enrollment curriculums, Kelly builds the development platforms that train staff on the skills needed to realize the strategic vision. Kelly has experience assessing an organization’s culture and developing initiatives that engage employees and increase retention.
For the past eighteen years, Kelly has led a rewarding career in Talent and Organizational Development at Morgan Stanley, Citi, Deutsche Bank, and Société Générale. Most recently, Kelly led the Talent & Development team at Macquarie as the Head of Talent for the Americas. During her tenured career, Kelly coached and consulted with C‑Suite leaders, senior executives and high potential managers on topics of strategy, leadership, learning and development, talent management, succession planning, presence and team engagement.
Kelly’s unique ability to establish immediate rapport and develop meaningful relationships with business leaders opens the lines of communication and collaboration and it gives her an advantage when coaching or partnering with seasoned professionals. She has worked extensively in environments facing demanding business expectations as well as large organizational restructuring and cultural transformations. Kelly takes a pragmatic and proactive approach and is adept at coaching effective leadership behaviors and creating positive change for the individual and the organization.
Kelly partners with leaders to build innovative strategies, high performing teams and engaging company cultures. Her approach incorporates the latest research in effective leadership, interpersonal communication, and behavioral science to enhance the skills and expertise needed to excel in current situations while keeping an eye on overall vision and strategy.
Kelly completed her Certification in Executive Coaching through the iCoach Program at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York. She is certified in the MBTI assessment instruments and is experienced with 360° interviews and development planning. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania.
Kelly’s approach to training ad coaching projects and engagements is informed by her years of experience leading Talent & Development functions and partnering with senior leaders to understand their development needs, their goals, and to shape a solution that would move the business forward.

- Conducted group coaching sessions with senior leaders and managers to explore key issues that would help to engage their employees and cascade key strategic messages throughout the organization.
- Led a women’s leadership program at a leading Hedge Fund to support the development and exposure of women and help them establish careers that lead to executive-level roles in the future.
- Partnered with a large Investment Bank to custom design Business Writing and Communication training to support their employee development goals and make a deeper impact with internal communication efforts.
